About Us
Growing up in the Western Cape, the koekemakranka grew wild on both our farms — that small, stubborn plant with its curling stems and clustered berries, rooted in the fynbos and renosterveld like it had always been there and always would be. You didn't plant it. You didn't tend it. It just grew, because that's what it does.
We didn't know then that years later we'd end up building something together, rooted in the same soil.
Die Vulstasie is that something.
The name comes from a time most of us still carry somewhere. The old farm stalls along the country roads — the ones with a filling station out front, where you'd stop to tank up and walk out with a boot full of preserves, biltong, and something still warm from the kitchen. You came for petrol. You left full in every sense of the word.
That's what we're building. A place — and for now, a brand — where you come to fill up. On real food, made with care, from ingredients that belong to this landscape.
We're not a factory. We're two people who grew up on farms, who know what real food tastes like, and who want to bring that to your kitchen. The farm stall is coming. For now — this is where we start.
